Introducing Seekonk Chiropractor Dr. Belinda Mobley
I never knew anything about chiropractic health-care growing up. None of my family or friends had ever visited one before. However, my mom raised me without a lot of medicine and believing that 'natural' was usually better.
My first experience with how the body responds to trauma was as a young woman. I had been involved in several auto accidents and began to get headaches and have trouble turning my head . I did not initially make the connection between my headaches and the auto accidents, and neither did my medical physician. He told me I was 'nervous' and gave me anxiety pills. I decided not to take them!
As a college student, I became fascinated with the human body and all that it took to be healthy and alive... and even thought about becoming a medical physician. However, I knew all the hospitals and sick people were not for me. Luckily, while doing a business internship in Davenport, IA, I discovered Chiropractic. Davenport is the birthplace of Chiropractic and is full of the rich history and philosophy of Chiropractic. After having my first adjustment and being able to live without headaches, I was hooked!!
I started taking more classes in the basic sciences such as organic and inorganic chemistry, biology and basic anatomy. I ended up with a B.S. instead of a B.A. Who would have thought this Business Major would love science classes so much!
I loved Chiropractic College!! The first two years consist of a rigorous curriculum of classes such as biochemistry, embryology and a major emphasis on neuroanatomy, anatomy and human physiology. We also must become knowledgeable and proficient in X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care. I graduated magna cum laude and won the 'Most Outstanding Graduate' award in 1996.
After graduation I taught anatomy and physiology classes at the local community colleges and travelled to Chiropractic Colleges to help prepare students to take the National Board Examinations. Eventually I found a business partner and relocated to California. I had a private practice there for eight years. While there, I had my son, Matthew and decided to take two years off.
In 2005, I found and purchased a 'specialty' practice in Seekonk, MA. and relocated to this area. I feel that all of my life choices have culminated in a wonderful life and practice and I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given.
